Checkmate

We are park people. That is, per force (ahem, 2 children), we are park people.  The Parc des Bastions, which is RIGHT around the corner from our new apartment is helping us forget the splendors and conveniences of good ol' Welles Park back in Lincoln Square.

Not only does the Parc des Bastions house these giant chess (and thankfully, checkers) games, a play park (with a real, live merry-go-round), a university building, and a cafe, but it also accommodates a plethora of lessons and club meetings.

While walking to errand #752 the other night, we stumbled upon a curious mix in the park - a middle eastern dance lesson side by side with a theatrical fencing class.

We continued on our way and found, to our great amusement, none other than a djembe drum circle.  This was a significant discovery!  Some of you know my mom, a djembe player and woman of keenly critical mind. Well, she has been noting from the start of this whole Geneva caper that the city simply could not be deemed "cool" until she could find a djembe circle.  Google was not coughing up much in these regards, so poor Geneva was merely mediocre...until now.

Look closely!

Congratulations on your elevated status, Geneva.

Hiya, mom.
