Maman's Web

I had to console Aoife today.  She was beside herself because "Maman" was being dismantled.  Maman is a grotesquely gorgeous metal sculpture of a soon-to-be mother spider (built with obvious love by Louise Bourgeois) that was on exhibit right in the middle of the Place Neuve.  There was something beautiful about her asymmetrical, spindly legs disrupting the altogether different beauty of the square, within which sits the opera house, the Conservatory of Music, and the Rath Museum... everything all wrapped up in tram tracks and rushing car blurs.

I have to admit, I, too, was sad to see her go.
