But to you, I reply,
you are reading my blog.
This is it, I swear. There are just a few tidbits I need to add about this park and then I'll give it a rest. (Until the season changes, at which point the slate will be clean.)
Even the tourists arrange themselves in pretty, little formations. |
If the extra dose of sepia tone didn't charm you, maybe this will. On errand #841, we cut through the park to give the kids a rest and saw that those pieces were not for mere child's play. Our frolic-in entrance was met with meaningful "shush!" looks. The place was packed, and we were interrupting some serious competitions. Oops.
See Maman in the background? |
From there, we went back to the play park and, I kid you not, a man and a woman were visiting all park-goers with a little cart full of apples, insisting that everyone take one on behalf of the city of Geneva.
They said that next year, it'll be almonds. |
There are the apple-givers, in the t-shirts. |
My initial reaction, being from the Chi, was guarded, but literally everyone in the park was eating an apple and they looked darn good! It made me remember some advice offered by another expat blogger living in Geneva...she said something along the lines of (instead of focusing on the rigid rules of the Swiss), appreciate the trust. Here, you are trusted to do the right thing, to follow the rules and you, too, can depend on and enjoy the general trust that's in place. Like the chess pieces...it seems they should have been stolen long ago, doesn't it?
The apple was delicious, by the way.
p.s. The very last thing:
This guy is going to practice tight-rope walking. |
