la ludothèque

You francophiles have heard of the bibliothèque.  But do you know of the LUDOthèque?  Aoife and I are still in awe upon our return from the toy library.  Sorry Maddie, there's not a book to be found in this completely free, immaculate community center.  Funded by the city, and diligently maintained and monitored by the toy librarians (ludothècaires), the ludothèque is open to all once you've registered for a card and had a tour and a run down of the rules.

My ludothèque card!

Not sure if anyone actually reads this sign,
but there's some good stuff on here.
We arrived just as the doors opened, so we were able to appreciate the careful arrangements delicately set  by the ludothècaires, including Barbie dinners and castle jousting scenes.  Jude, released from his stroller, was in 7th heaven and fully ready to take on the big boys so as to dominate the car.  Aoife managed to play with every single toy in the place.  I was able to breathe and partake in adult conversation with other parents, which was very nice, indeed.

This facility must be a madhouse come winter.

The play concentration was so high, they were smile-less nearly the entire time.

Excellent training.

Our selections...one for Aoife and one for Jude.

Remind us to return these by October 19th.

Free toys for kids, paid for by the government, available as long as you're willing to respect others? Crazy! What will you socialists think of next? You know, here in the civilized world, we understand that government is the problem, not the solution. Um, can I move there?

As always, you manage to find the nail and hit it on the head, D. YES, move here...quickly!

I'm trusting you've also paid a visit to the local bibliotheque. Please, please say yes.

WOW! I can only imagine what Kaitlin would do to that place...I told her about it and she said..."Mommy do they have those kind of places here and you don't take me?" I just about died laughing!

This is unbelievable. So cool. I'm checking a toy out when I visit, ok?. Who is that little guy in the striped shirt? Wait, that's Judebug. He's changing so quickly. He looks like a toddler.
I miss all of you!
