Mercredi

There's no school - at least for young kids - here on Wednesdays, so Wednesday is a day that is unofficially devoted to children.  It's a nice way to make sure that time is set aside (with minimal multi-tasking, errands, unpacking) for exploring Geneva with them.  Aoife, Jude, and I got ourselves put together (one of us fancier than the rest), crossed the Old City's hill, and headed straight for the good ol' Lac Léman again.  Our mission?  To figure out the Mouettes and to see that Jet d'Eau, up close and personal.

The Jet d'Eau can be viewed from nearly everywhere, she's always at the ready to enhance or disrupt a tourist's photo.

There she is, in all her splendor.  (This one's for you, Terry.)
Why yes, those are swans.
There's another she, in all her splendor.  I did not choose this ensemble.

The Mouette boats are part of the public transit system.  There are currently three that are functioning (a very regular passenger reiterated several times that two of them are in the shop.)  These mighty, little yellow boats zig and zag to a few different destinations on the lake.  If you're walking with a 4 year old and you are regretting not splurging on a double stroller, they are the bees knees, even if you do quadruple your distance by adding an extra zig and a Mouette transfer or two in order to arrive at your destination sans walking.

The price of a single ride is fairly steep, but if you purchase a monthly transportation pass, it applies to the Mouettes, as well.

Mouette, c'est chouette.

Again, do not link this headband to me.
One of our Mouette voyages brought us to a place (my now-favorite place) called Baby Plage.  No translation there, that's the name.  Baby Plage is a small beach just for children.  It's lovely, but the main attraction is the park.  It's a park for climbing and swinging, it makes you feel the thrill of being a monkey or Tarzan swinging through the trees.

(Pardon the fuzziness, I left without my camera, so everything today was taken with my phone. )  As you can see, I got a bit carried away with the videos, but do sit through them and try to make out the made-out-of-tires "vines".

That looks like a great park! I enjoy that the parents have to do work in order for the child to swing! Did Jude sleep the whole time? I love Aiofe's little outfits! I miss you guys! I agree with a previous comment, that we need a picture of you!!! :) xoxo

I agree with Jeanne that AQ's ostentatious outfits reflect her fabulously outrageous personality. Wonderful looking park! So glad you are able to spend Wednesdays exploring together.

Whow I have never seen something like that. The Jet d'eau! Is that thing for real? It's huge... I can't believe this thing exits. My, my I got to come to Geneva and check some of that Jet d'eau out. It's huge, huge.
